deprivation leads to negative effects on the social, psychological, moral and spiritual aspects of the families. The most affected are women, children and youth. Ignorance and culture of silence abound and exploitation, abuses and violence also prevail. In spite of or perhaps because of poverty, there are many cases of child labor like those employed in shell/stone/wood crafts industry or driving “trisicads” (3-wheeled motorized bicycle with sidecar), school drop-outs, drug addiction, gambling, drinking of local and hard drinks, family feuds, theft, dysfunctional families, frequent quarrels of husband and wives, etc. These are prevalent in every sitio/chapel in the parish, a product of the preliminary social investigation done.

HOLY CROSS PARISH

The Holy Cross Parish is the 2nd parish here in Cebu City that SPCC would like to get in partnership with. The Pre-Entry Phase to the parish started on July 2009 and is on the process of working on the Preliminary Social Investigation in the parish. Series of meetings, consultations with parish leaders and the parish priest and with Barangay Basak Pardo have been done. In the event that the partnership would push through, there will be series of activities that we will be spearheading.
